The Grand Rapids Community Foundation has awarded 574 out of 1,877 scholarship grants totaling $844,250 this year to freshmen college students.
Almost half of the scholarship grants were awarded to students majoring in healthcare, business, and law or social sciences.
Thirteen Michigan colleges and universities receive a total of $690,050. The Grand Valley State University receives the largest award amount of $133,250.

Nonprofit impact investing firm, Acumen, has invested $1.2 million to KZ Noir, a Rwanda-based coffee processing company owned by Kaizen Venture Partners. The investment will equip KZ Noir the funds for working capital, debt refinancing, and capacity expansion.
